Seeking and implementing helpful feedback is necessary for continuous personal and professional growth. That makes receiving and using constructive criticism an essential skill for motivated future millionaires!

Check out these 5 tips for how to get better at receiving feedback:

  1. Don’t just wait for feedback. Ask for it! Seek out subject matter experts, like-minded peers or even your friends to get feedback on your work or ideas.

TIP: Keep the advice coming! After your first round of feedback, ask to set a future appointment to review performance after you’ve implemented any suggested changes.

  2. Adjust your mindset – you’re not always right. Nobody is! Receiving constructive feedback can be uncomfortable. It’s important to keep an open mind and learn how to keep yourself from reacting defensively.

  3. Practice active listening. Try restating what you heard to the person giving you feedback. Repeating feedback shows that person that you’re listening and ensures that you haven’t misunderstood their tips.

Additionally, by letting someone know their opinion matters to you, you’re more likely to get constructive feedback from them in the future!

  4. Take notes. Take the time to jot down some notes so you can revisit and process feedback later. After reviewing, don’t be afraid to reach out and ask some follow-up questions.

  5. Remember that you don’t have to use all the feedback you receive. While it’s important to keep an open mind, don’t feel pressured to take EVERY suggestion you get. Take the time to truly consider if making the suggested changes will serve you.
