It’s Heating up Outside! Stay Cool on a Budget this Summer
As the summer goes on, the temperature is only going to get higher – which means, if you’re not careful, your energy bill could get higher too!
With a few simple hacks, you can keep cool and comfortable without breaking the bank. Try them today!
- Close your window blinds during the day to keep out the warm sun rays.
- Don’t use your oven to cook dinner – it will warm up the room.
- Use a fan to cool down your rooms at a fraction of the energy cost it would take to run the air conditioner!
- Wear loose-fitting clothes made of breathable materials.
- Hydrate! Drink plenty of water before you spend time outside.
- Eat cold or frozen foods like popsicles or even ice.
- Enjoy the swimming pool, lake or other nearby body of water.
- Refrigerate things like lotion, aloe, or face creams for cooling relief when you apply.
- Avoid the hottest times of day. Schedule yard work or outside activities for early in the morning or later in the evening.
- Borrow air conditioning from the mall, the library or the movie theater for a few hours.
