5 Ways to Pay Less at the Pump
We all know how expensive that weekly trip to the gas station can be! Try out these 5 tips to shave a few bucks off your weekly gasoline costs:
- Sign up for fuel rewards programs. Many gas station chains and grocery stores have fuel rewards programs that can help you save a few cents per gallon when you fill up. Do some research to see which programs would benefit you the most!
- Don’t use the premium fuel options. Unless your car manufacturer specifically says you should use premium gasoline, there’s no need to go for the more expensive options. Save 20 to 40 cents per gallon with regular-grade fuel!
- Check prices before you go. Checking prices before you leave the house ensures that you stop at the station that gives you the best deal. There are apps available, like GasBuddy or Waze, that can help you find the lowest prices in your area.
- Don’t wait until your tank is empty to fill up. If you wait until the last minute to fill your tank, you’ll have no choice but to stop at the first gas station you see – which may cost more than a station just up the road!
- Fill up early in the week. According to GasBuddy1, Monday has the lowest average gas prices in most of the United States. Try to fill up on Monday and avoid Thursday, which is the most expensive day in most states!
