Sometimes becoming a millionaire is as easy as winning the lottery. But for those who aren’t so lucky, achieving this goal requires financial discipline and doing everything you can to save, save, save!

One great way to maximize your savings is to slash expenses wherever you can. Even small cuts can make a huge difference in the long run! Reach millionaire status sooner with these saving tips:

  1. Shop around for common monthly services. Your current phone, internet, cable, or other monthly service provider might not be giving you the best bang for your buck. Try shopping around for cheaper plans, and always keep an eye out for special sales or promotions.

  2. Take a second look at your subscriptions. An abundance of streaming services can make it easy to forget what all you’re paying for – and what you’re not using. Make a list of all of your subscriptions to help you decide which services you need, and which ones you can cancel.

TIP: You don’t have to do it all on your own! There are services and apps that can help you track your subscriptions to make them easier to manage. Find the one that works best for you!

  3. Join rewards programs. Gas stations, grocery stores, and other businesses sometimes offer programs that allow you to save a few bucks on every purchase, or redeem points for rewards.

Don’t forget to use coupons, too! Look for them online, in your mailbox, or email inbox.

  4. Thrift or discount stores are your friend. Opting for gently used clothing or buying from a discount grocery store can help you save on necessities, without compromising quality.

  5. Take steps to limit household utility costs. Improving your home’s energy efficiency can significantly decrease your monthly utility bills. A few simple ways to cut costs in your home include:

    • Programming your thermostat to use less heat or air when you’re not at home
    • Using energy efficient light bulbs
    • Making sure your home is sealed and insulated
    • Fixing water leaks and installing water-efficient appliances
    • Lowering the temperature on your water heater
